She hit approximately .270 against pitching in the Big Nine Conference that was as stout as ever that year. It included Winona pitchers Makayla Steffes and Ava Hamsund, Century's Morgan Erickson, Mankato East's Kylinn Stangl and Red Wing's Bri Tix — all of whom are playing college softball or committed to play college softball.

    ROCHESTER — There are always surprises and frustrations when it comes to MSHSL Section realignment. This year's edition might just take the cake. That's because the MSHSL decided to move national wrestling powerhouse Simley — winners of 11 state titles since 2008 and the program with the second-most individual state champions in state history (71) — back into Section 1. It didn't take long for Peterson to realize Klar had something special in her right arm. "Even at 10 and under, she had quite an arm," Peterson said.
