High school football teams around Southern Nevada are gearing up for the new season with spring practice. Many of the area’s top players are also preparing for the new year. And also getting ready to decide on where they will play at the next level. According to 247Sports, 15 Southern Nevada athletes are rated as three-star recruits or better by the site. Several players have the attention of many major college programs.

There were moments last year when Palo Verde baseball coach Dustin Romero looked at his lineup and thought: “It’d be really nice to have Brady right here.”Palo Verde lost star catcher Brady Dallimore last April with a left meniscus injury and had to navigate the second half of its season without the TCU commit. It took a team effort to fill the void, but Palo Verde pulled through and won the Class 5A state title.

Desert Oasis’ baseball team rolled to an 11-0 road win at Spring Valley on Thursday. The game ended after six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule after the Diamondbacks scored six runs in the top of the sixth. Lincoln Guillermo went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Aidan Smith was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a home run for Desert Oasis (17-9). Brody Griffith added three RBIs, and Max Kieffer was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Diamondbacks. Desert Oasis next plays at Bishop Gorman at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Bishop Gorman safety Jett Washington didn’t have much of an offseason after helping the Gaels win the Class 5A Division I state football title in November. First, Washington hit the hardwood and helped Gorman’s boys basketball team win its second straight 5A state title. Then, about a week after the basketball season ended, the state’s top class of 2026 football prospect turned his attention to a recruiting process with many of the major college football powers courting Washington.
