One in four city children do not know how to swim, according to city data. That number is lower for Black and Asian children, where data show one in three kids do not have swimming skills. One nonprofit is trying to change those numbers. The Fresh Air Fund offers free summer camp experiences, including swimming lessons. Catholics around the world are in mourning after the Vatican announced the death of Pope Francis on Monday. Francis had been in poor health, but was seen a number of times during Holy Week. On Sunday, Francis gave the traditional Easter blessing from the balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Now, cardinals across the globe are expected to gather in Rome to mourn the pontiff and then elect his successor.
