FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - - The City of Fort Wayne kicked off its Plant, Pick, & Plate program Friday. Mayor Sharon Tucker joined local youth and officials from the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the American Beverage Association for a Healthy America at Johnnie Mae Farm for a kickoff event. The event invited the public to learn about the program while touring the farm, sampling its recipes, and attending its first farmstand of the 2025 season.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is sharing body camera footage of a rescue after a fire on Wednesday spread to a locked dog kennel. According to the department, a structure fire was reported in the 3700 block of South Hanna Street around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived on the scene, they say they found a garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to nearby homes.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on State Road 15 North, just south of its intersection with County Road 1350 North, around 12:30 p.m.When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they say they found a Chevy Trailblazer and an International Box Truck involved in a head-on collision. On Saturday, a representative of the organization shared that Gary Brabson, better known as ‘G Money’ had passed away. They say Brabson had a passion for music, especially the blues, and was committed to creating a welcoming space on their stage for everyone to join in and jam along. Brabson performed at the Clyde Theatre every Monday since the launch of G-Money Open Blues Jam nights in August 2019.

Community members were invited to Fort Wayne Turners for the event featuring authentic German food and a kickball tournament. The festival is held ahead of Fort Wayne’s GermanFest, which will be happening at Headwaters Park from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8.
