Teenage weightlifter Emmanuel Palota Ulimasao has concluded his competition in Lima, Peru, by setting three new Oceania records at the IWF Junior and Youth Championship. The 18-year-old competed in the men's 96kg category. He is from Vaigaga and Pu'apu'a in Savaii, a gold medalist at the Oceania Championship in Melbourne last month. "I feel relieved with what I have achieved. I never thought I could do that, but here I am doing it. I started weightlifting about two years ago.

The proposed Samoa National Provident Fund Medi-Insurance scheme will require contributors to pay $300 annually allowing it to kick off with $28 million if approved. It will still be compulsory but only for those who can afford the $300 annual contribution and the option of adding on dependents at $200 each annually. However, people with existing medical insurance do not need to be part of the scheme. The contributions equate to less than $1 a day.
