Currently, around half of the state's streetlights are illuminated by energy-efficient LED bulbs. We're committed to helping empower this change and move towards a future that's not only greener but also more cost-effective for energy users. Last year, we teamed up with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield (City of PAE) to roll-out Stage 1 of their bulk LED lighting upgrade, focussing on Stobie pole-mounted lights on residential streets.

It’s been a journey 2 years in the making, but the first flight took just 30 minutes to complete. In the late evening of July 29 and 30, our Asset Operations team conducted our first nighttime powerline inspection in the Tantanoola to Kongorong areas in the state's south-east. The team used one of our large multi-rotor drones, equipped with thermal imaging sensor, to carry out a 'Beyond Visual Line of Sight' (BVLoS) thermographic inspection.

The ASO’s Learning Program offers accessible music education to kids of all abilities in South Australia, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved. This year, the Learning Program united ASO musicians with composer and music teacher Paul Rissmann, and Adelaide-born violinist Belinda McFarlane from the London Symphony Orchestra. They worked with students and teachers from Kilparrin Teaching and Assessment School and Services and South Australian School & Services for Vision Impaired.

This upgrade, known as the Southern Outer Metro 66kV Project, is designed to meet the increasing electricity demands for the area, bringing significant benefits to local customers. In 2024, the existing overhead powerlines from Morphett Vale East to Willunga will be replaced with a higher-rated powerline, enhancing the capacity and reliability of the electricity supply.
