(BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo.) After completing an 18-month program, graduates were honored from the Buchanan County Treatment Court. According to Drug Court Probation and Patrol Officer Jennifer Parrish, it was one of their bigger graduations. Parrish said around twelve people graduated from the program. Kip Traster was one of the graduates.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Various high school students participated in a Senior Clean-Up Day around the area. Central High School and Benton High School seniors took to King Hill Cemetery. The students worked hard in the hot weather. Porshia Riley, senior, described how everyone helped out at the cemetery. "We're just moving a bunch of brush and logs and loading it up in the trailer and then bringing it down," Riley said. These seniors' semesters have already ended, and yet they still want to volunteer.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A local small business has been making an impact on the community throughout the week. Butchart's Flowers & Greenhouse is a 115-year-old business. Michelle Leimbach, president and part owner, bought Butchart's Flowers from the third generation of the Butchart family business. Butchart's Flowers demonstrated an act of gratitude for Teachers' Appreciation Week and Nurses' Appreciation Week.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Hyde Elementary School brought together families to participate in reading a book kindergarten classes created for Family Literacy Day. To encourage literacy among kindergarten students, children had made pages for what they wanted to be when they grow up. Students took turns sitting up front with their teacher, not only reading their individual pages aloud but improving their public speaking in front of fellow students and their parents.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) B&B Runway Café has reopened its doors at the new terminal of the Rosecrans Memorial Airport. The cafe's owner had leased from the City of St. Joseph, and as airport grows, so did the café into the new space. Owner Jillian Parisoff introduced new options to the menu with the move and how the café now has more room for amenities. "We can rent the space out at night," Parisoff said. "We can have evening events.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) To prevent the buildup of litter in the streets, Beautify St. Joseph is giving advice on how to contribute less to it. Chairperson Terry Turbak said the first step to preventing litter is awareness as well as an understanding of the containers used for food. "When you go to a restaurant and you get that to-go box container, and that container then goes in the trash, and that goes into the landfill," Turbak said. Creating solutions like using reusable dishes can go a long way.

Among many of the impacted businesses from the tariff increase April 9 is Schneitter Fireworks & Importing Co.The company has been fighting the tariffs since before the increase went into effect. Stacy Schneitter Blake, co-owner and operator, said she heard nationwide and in China, many fireworks suppliers are putting their orders on hold. "What will happen is now there's a possible shortage of fireworks this year too," Schneitter Blake said.
