Performance of the biomarkers to detect ICL on CT scansWe will assess the performance of GFAP and UCH-L1 to detect ICL on CT scans separately and in combination in the VIDAS TBI assay in terms of sensitivity, specificity and positive and negative predictive values. First, cut-off points for each biomarker separately and in combination will be derived from receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves.

Methods and analysisStudy designThe BRAINI2-Elderly study is a multicentre observational study in which prospective data are collected from Spain, France and Germany. It consists of two independent substudies: (1) a cohort study of elderly patients with mTBI (BRAINI2-ELDERLY DIAGNOSTIC AND PROGNOSTIC STUDY) and (2) a cross-sectional study of elderly reference participants (BRAINI2-ELDERLY REFERENCE STUDY).
