Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the government is looking into who is involved in market syndicates and hoarding and investigating whether the BNP has any connections with them. “The BNP may try to embarrass the administration and obstruct the progress of the elected government through syndicates during Ramadan,” Quader, the road transport and bridges minister, told a meeting at the Awami League's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue on Thursday.

Seven new ministers of state took the oath on Friday as members of the cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new state ministers at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 7:30pm. After the swearing-in ceremony, they signed the oaths of office and secrecy.
