Dhaka Tribune
The Dhaka Tribune is an English-language compact newspaper based in Bangladesh, with a nationwide reach from its headquarters in Dhaka. It is published by K. Anis Ahmed, and the editorial direction is led by Zafar Sobhan. The newspaper made its debut on April 19, 2013, during a time when Bangladesh faced challenges from emerging radical elements and was subjected to a wave of propaganda from certain far-right media targeting the country's progressive groups.

Land grabbers are digging a pond on government land in Jamalpur and are selling the extracted soil to brick kilns. Local people say that the land in Nirkhal Beel area under Shahbahpur Union Parishad is being dug by a group of people from dawn to dusk every day. This way, they have dug three ponds on nearly 70% of land in the area. Locals fear that the shores of the ponds will ultimately damage the croplands during monsoon.

A case has been registered against the chairman of Doail union parishad (UP) and his associate for allegedly raping a woman village police member in Jamalpur's Sarishabari. The rape survivor filed the case in Jamalpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 2 on Thursday. According to the case statement, the woman works as a Village Police member in Doail union.

General Hussein Muhammad Ershad, chief of staff of the Bangladesh army, seized power in a coup d’etat on the morning of March 24, 1982. Coming four months after the election that had placed Justice Abdus Sattar as the new president of the country in succession to General Ziaur Rahman, the coup was a shock. And it was because there was no good reason, other than Ershad’s vaulting ambition for power, for that action by the military hierarchy to move against an elected president.
