2 1/1 A MAN has died following a motorcycle crash on the A417 in Gloucestershire. The collision took place at around 5.30pm yesterday, Tuesday, April 29, between the M5 and Birdlip roundabout. The 31-year-old motorcyclist from Swindon was the only vehicle involved in the collision. He was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he later died. Gloucestershire Police say his next of kin and the coroner has been informed.

10 1/1 A RARE bird with a distinctive orange crown has been photographed in a neighbouring county. This hoopoe bird was captured on camera by Gloucestershire Camera Club member Nigel Lusty from Stonehouse. The colourful feathered bird - pronounced hu-pu - is noted for its crest or 'crown', which it raises when it's excited and its long, thin, tapering black bill. It is more commonly found in warmer climates and is named after its rapid, whooping call.

Adam Greeves, aged 44, was caught over the 70mph limit on the M5 by the A40 Golden Valley Bridge at Cheltenham on January 5 last year. Greeves, of Beanacre Road, Melksham, pleaded guilty to speeding at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on Monday, March 24.
