    2 1/1 A RESTAURANT in Cirencester is set to temporarily close for one day as staff attend a festival. Toro Lounge on Cricklade Street will shut on Monday, June 9, reopening on Tuesday, June 10. The closure is because staff will be at LoungeFest, a free event at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. This is a yearly festival for staff across the hundreds of Loungers, Cosy Clubs, and Brightside branches.

    Emergency services rushed to a property on Bedford Street in Gloucester at around 7.40am yesterday, Wednesday, May 28, after receiving reports that several people had been stabbed. Three men were taken to hospital, but despite the best efforts of first responders, one of the men died at around midday. Formal identification of the man has not yet taken place, Gloucestershire Police say.

    16 1/1 DAREDEVILS have once again thrown themselves down a steep hill in the annual death-defying cheese rolling race in Gloucestershire. Brave competitors sprinted, tripped and tumbled down Cooper’s Hill in Brockworth to try and win the 8lb double Gloucester. The recent dry weather had made the racetrack harder and slower but more dangerous for the competitors who were cheered on by thousands of spectators.

    Dozens of visitors had the chance to enjoy a drink at the Rose and Crown in Nympsfield on Saturday afternoon, May 17. The site’s car park was also turned into an extra-large beer garden for the event. The historic pub - which closed in March 2023 - has been at the heart of the Nympsfield since the mid-1800s. Organisers from Nympsfield Community Pub Group received permission from the current owner to reopen for the fundraising event.

    The attraction - known as the Jurassic Immersive Experience - will debut in the UK at The Venue, Cribbs Causeway, on Monday, June 7. After a successful tour in Austria and Germany, the attraction promises to transport visitors into a prehistoric world. It offers people the chance to engage with life-sized dinosaur encounters, thrilling 5D rides, and a variety of hands-on activities. It will be open for a limited time only, although no end date has been confirmed.
