    After England and Scotland announced bans on trans women from competitive football, it has been confirmed that players in Ireland will continue to be assessed on a case-by-case basis. A spokesperson for the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) reaffirmed the governing body’s position in a statement to RTÉ Sport, shared on Friday, May 2.

    Trans women will be banned from playing women’s football in Scotland and England as of next season. The football associations of both countries announced their decisions on Wednesday, April 30, and Thursday, May 1, respectively, following the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on the legal definition of ‘woman’. Until now, Scotland allowed trans women to compete in their preferred gender category on a case-by-case basis and with testosterone levels taken into account.

    Ireland 30 April, 2025. Earlier this week, on April 28, TikTok user Jake Glendon posted a video highlighting that some ads for student accommodation in Dublin are excluding LGBTQ+ and disabled people from the application process. In the social media post, he shared a screenshot of one listing, which had a tick beside ‘Postgraduate’ (confirming that it was open to postgraduate students), and an ‘X’ beside ‘LGBTQ+ Welcome’ and ‘Disabled’.

    Dublin Front Runners marked its 20th anniversary in emphatic style, with a fabulous gala ball on Saturday, April 26. Attendees took over the Radisson Blu Hotel on Golden Lane for the star-studded celebration, as they reminisced on the club’s early days and looked ahead to the future. 180 people came together for the event, which was open to past and present members and their guests. Renowned Dublin drag queen Victoria Secret was also in attendance, treating the crowd to a fabulous performance.
