Baby-boomer critics have spent the past week reliving halcyon memories and lauding the new Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. It turns out that critics born long after Bob Dylan exploded popular culture and released generation-defining music have their own takes on the film, which adopts an historical fiction approach to the capturing the moment when the folkie plugged in and blasted “Like A Rolling Stone” at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

But the Daughertys have some key things in common, besides their mutual respect for each other’s work and process. Zia, who’s been painting and drawing since childhood, is the niece of Chris Rodgers, herself a retired religious-art restorer, and the granddaughter of the late Bob Bartholic, a legend in the Tulsa arts world. Art was a vital part of Trueson’s young life, too; he regularly visited museums with his family and took his first college-level art class at 16.

Around here, you don’t necessarily expect to see a ballet dancer with a French accent casually chatting over a coffee shop counter. But Aubin Le Marchand, originally from Paris, is no stranger to getting right into the mix of things, wherever he is. The 24-year-old arrived in Tulsa last summer just after the Father’s Day storm. On stage and in person, you might say he brings his own kind of weather system with him.

Visit Ken Pomeroy’s social media as she tours the U.S. this summer with John Moreland and Iron & Wine, and you’ll see new fans chiming in with awestruck tributes to her resonant Americana sound. But even though she’s only 21, Pomeroy’s not new to moving folks to tears. The Cherokee singer/songwriter started making music when she was 9. And Oklahoma audiences have known for years that something special is happening whenever she takes the stage.

Founded in 2018 with the aim of creating a platform that would showcase local films and build a network of support for creators, TFC is relaunching this year with a slate of community screening events, plus plans for mentorship programs and microgrants to support local filmmakers. The new collective sees original members Sterlin Harjo, Charles Elmore and Jessica McEver joined by Shagah Zakerion, who brings decades of experience in nonprofit development and public relations to the team.
