A HUGE 7.1 magnitude earthquake has hit near Tonga and prompted a tsunami warning. The US Geological Survey said the temblor hit about 62 miles northeast of the main island in the early morning hours of Monday local time. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued an alert saying hazardous waves could be possible for coasts located within 300 kilometres (185 miles) of the epicentre. More to follow...

NASA has repeatedly changed estimates on whether a huge Big Ben-sized asteroid first spotted last year will crash into Earth - and now an expert has revealed the reason why.
