Less than a week remains for the Class 2A baseball regular season, and Wiggins baseball remains squarely in the mix to move into the postseason. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Tigers sat at No. 15 in CHSAA’s Selection & Seeding Index, which is used to determine who will make the first leg of the state tournament. Only the top 32 teams in 2A will move onto the single-elimination regional tournaments, the winners of which will advance to the eight-team state tournament.

DENVER — Fairview senior Stella Laird enjoyed a taste of home in one of the final matches of her high school career. In a playback at the Class 5A individual state tennis tournament on Friday at Denver Tennis Park, Laird battled it out with Boulder junior Tessa Botha for a spot in the No. 1 singles third-place match on Saturday, and eventually took down her friend from across town with a 6-2, 6-1 score. Now, she’ll return for one last swan song against Fossil Ridge’s Irene Cobos.
