The non-profit law organization America First Legal filed a federal civil rights complaint with the United States Department of Education on Jun. 24 alleging Colorado State University is violating federal anti-discrimination law. The complaint argues that CSU’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs violate the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Executive Order 14173, “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity,” which was enacted by President Donald Trump Jan. 21.

The day Rory Spotted Horse stood at a Fort Collins City Council meeting with his eagle feather staff and was told to remove it was not the beginning of the story — and it will not be the end. To many, it may have looked like a small disruption — a misunderstanding, perhaps. For those of us who carry the memory of the land, it was part of a much longer story, one that includes flooded valleys, vanished springs, displaced nations and ceremonies that still persist, even in silence.

For the first time in 30 years, a full Colorado State University graduating class tossed their caps in unison. Universitywide Commencement, the first ceremony to be held in Canvas Stadium, recognized the full class of 2025 on Friday, May 16. Replacing the previous structure of individual colleges holding ceremonies in Moby Arena, the changes to the CSU commencement format were announced in April 2024.

Three years on the job later, Espinoza, a senior biomedical sciences student, laughs recalling how the skills she has learned through the PA program have allowed her to walk up to important strangers and happily and confidently introduce herself.

Fort Collins Police Service is responding to and investigating a shooting at Foothills Mall. Heavy police presence was reported in the area at 5:36 p.m., FCPS posted on Twitter. “Heavy police presence at Foothills Mall in Fort Collins,” the first statement read. “Please avoid the area while police assess the incident.”At 5:53 p.m., FCPS posted another update saying that officers were responding to a shooting at the mall.
