1 INTRODUCTION Hydatid cyst is a parasitic zoonotic disease, caused by cestode tapeworms, often due to Echinococcus granulosus and sometimes due to Echinococcus multilocularis. Humans are accidental intermediate hosts for this parasite and transmission occurs when food and water contaminated with stool is consumed from infected dogs (definitive hosts), that contains embryonated eggs.
