Welcome to Velo’s Sea Otter Classic coverage, where we share our favorite things we’ve seen at the 2025 show. Bikes, components, everything racing, and more: if we think it’s cool, you’ll see it. See the rest of our coverage here. One of the best parts of attending bike shows as influential as the Sea Otter Classic is the ability to see in real-time what interests normal cyclists the most. Josh, Alvin, and Levy unpack a massive week in tech that includes self-inflating tires winning Paris-Roubaix under a mountain biker, Pogačar’s fresh V5Rs, and an aero road bike that promises forward thrust in any wind conditions. Sweet Protection launches special edition colorSweet protection has a bit of a reputation as an influencer friendly helmet brand. Having spent a good amount of time actually wearing the helmets, I’d call that unfair. The helmets are high quality and comfortable but it is true that they are stylish too. It doesn’t hurt that if you want to match PAS Normal colors you can jump to the PAS Normal site, instead of Sweet Protection, to find colorways that get updates for the season.

See the rest of our coverage here. It’s no secret that Sea Otter is an absolute haven for the dirt-inclined among us. That means gravel bikes and new tech galore. In particular, there was a slew of new tires and wheels on display from all over the world.

best of luck to one of my favorite writers in cycling. a real bummer

Wow @Cyclingnewsfeed to layoff, Barry Ryan, who is one of your top and best writers, is quite a low move. Unbelievable. Good luck filling his shoes. Love your loyalty. 🤏
