GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Democrats voted for their preferred candidate for Alachua County sheriff on Tuesday in the Florida Primary Election. Peter King, Chad Scott, and Latrell Simmons faced off to represent the Democratic Party in the November election. The winner will run against incumbent Sheriff Emery Gainey, a Republican, and Pamela Marshall-Koons, an independent.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Hippodrome Theatre had its sip and stroll event Sunday night. It was a two-hour walking tour for the community to come out and see the off-limit areas. The Hippodrome was founded in 1973 and the theatre opened in Gainesville in 1980. People could explore all of the areas of the theater that are not accessible to the public. The guided tour took people backstage to see to green room. Plus a look at the lighting and production booth.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - You may see longer wait times for support if you are an AT&T customer. Communications Workers of America has filed an unfair labor practice charge against the company for not bargaining “in good faith”. More than 17,000 AT&T workers across the southeast are on strike for unfair labor practices. These workers started Friday afternoon after they said management was using unfair contract negotiations.

The purpose of the Souls to Polls event is to educate people before going to the polls on Tuesday.
