A lot of water in a short amount of time is being blamed for a single vehicle auto accident that occurred shortly before 7:00 on Tuesday evening in Kirbyville. Police and other emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the crash across from the Kirbyville High School on Highway 96, when it was reported that the late model Ford SUV, which was reportedly headed south, hydroplaned and went off the road and struck a power pole before landing upside down in a ditch.

Lainey Kent Crowned Miss Kirbyville 2025On Saturday, May 3, Lainey Kent was crowned Miss Kirbyville 2025. A junior at Kirbyville High School, Lainey is ranked 3rd in her class and juggles her studies with cheerleading and track. She plans to attend Lamar University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Currently enrolled in the high school’s CNA program, Lainey is set to take her state board exam next week for certification. But Lainey wasn’t just born for the crown—she’s got royal roots.
