    GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced his appointment for the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office on Friday. McMaster signed an executive order naming Cindy S. Crick to fill the top prosecutor role left following the retirement of longtime solicitor Walt Wilkins. Crick is a Greenville resident who has led her own law practice since 2020. She previously served as the Chief of Staff for U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy and was the Assistant Solicitor for the 7th Circuit.

    SENECA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a drug trafficking suspect is behind bars after a law enforcement pursuit on Wednesday. Qawi Aziz Kabir, 55, had outstanding warrants when a deputy spotted him near Garden Circle in Seneca. Instead of stopping when the deputy tried to pull him over, Kabir reportedly sped off. Deputies chased Kabir until he pulled into a driveway at a residence on Hiawassee Drive.

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Asheville Police Department said a repeat offender has been arrested for indecent exposure. On May 22 around 6 p.m., officers were called to a public park on Amboy Road to investigate reports of a man exposing himself near a running path. Police said 63-year-old Sergii Iefimenko was still exposed when they arrived on scene and taken into custody. Iefimenko was arrested for indecent exposure in the same location in March 2009. Police said he was later convicted.

    BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation has reached a six-figure settlement with the family of a teen who was killed in an accident in 2021. Kolson Elliott, 16, veered to try to avoid a wreck on Drayton Road before his car went down an embankment and into a creek. Elliott’s family filed a lawsuit against SCDOT, saying the bridge over Lawsons Fork Creek did not have guardrails as required by South Carolina safety standards.

    GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has arrested a former high school security guard after they said he lied on the stand. SLED said McArthur Wright Jr. testified during a criminal trial in December 2024 that he was a certified law enforcement officer with the Duncan Police Department. There is no record with the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy of Wright being a certified law enforcement officer, SLED said.
