LUCEDALE, Miss. (WLOX) - Friday, a massive procession lead the body of Deputy Jeremy Malone to the crime lab in Biloxi before escorting his body back to George County less than 24 hours after being killed in the line of duty. Outside Moments Funeral Home in Lucedale, fellow law enforcement officers back Deputy Malone with a sea of sirens, following closely behind. “We couldn’t make it through this without our community,” explains Doug Adams, an investigator with George County Sheriff’s Office.

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - Federal funding was awarded Wednesday and is now on its way to families in need on the Mississippi Gulf Coast following one team’s push to get it here. According to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Mississippi is the second-highest in the nation for removing children and placing them in state custody due to “inadequate housing”. “I’ve seen numbers go down for veterans,” HUD Mississippi Field Director Shea Williams said.

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - The City of Ocean Springs rededicated Marble Springs Park on Wednesday after more than $30,000 worth of restoration work, and the upgrades also enhance awareness about the park’s rich history. Marble Springs Park is located right off Iberville Drive. It is one hidden gem that has been tucked away there since the mid-1800′s. It used to be a highly popular tourist destination, though, according to Mayor Kenny Holloway.

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Thousands of people are arriving to Biloxi for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon this weekend. On Friday, racers gathered to get geared up and ready to run at Margaritaville’s registration and retail area. “We are back here for the eighth annual edition of this race,” spokesperson Michael Wattigny said. While the popular 5K run sold out for Saturday, there is still time to sign up for Sunday’s half or full marathon.
