Israel’s military on Tuesday urged Palestinians residing in multiple areas of northern Gaza to evacuate “immediately” ahead of a planned attack after rocket fire from the Palestinian territory. “This is a final advance warning before the attack,” the military’s Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee said on X. “The IDF (military) will attack with great force every area from which rockets are launched… For your safety, you must move immediately to the known shelters in Gaza City,” he added.

The armed wing of Hamas ally Islamic Jihad on Tuesday said it fired rockets at southern Israel, after the Israeli military said it had intercepted two projectiles fired from Gaza, with a third falling in an open area. “We bombarded Ashdod, Ashkelon, Sderot and settlements in the Gaza envelope with rocket fire,” the al-Quds Brigade said in a statement on Telegram. Twenty-seven people were killed and 2,771 injured, 93 of them seriously, in the 2,024 road accidents that occurred in urban areas on May 5-11, according to the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN). These accidents were mainly due to drivers’ inattention, failure to give priority, pedestrians’ inadvertence, failure to keep a safe distance and speeding, DGSN pointed out in a press release.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that European countries planned to impose new sanctions against Russia “in the coming days” if Moscow did not agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine. “Our intention is to impose sanctions” if Russia fails to comply with a ceasefire in Ukraine proposed by Kyiv’s European allies, Macron said during an interview with TF1 television.
