1 IntroductionCystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common genetic disease in Caucasian populations. It is an autosomal recessive genetic disease with mutations in the gene encoding the CF transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) protein (Shteinberg et al., 2021). Life expectancy increased from 1 year in the 1950s to over 50 years nowadays (Bell et al., 2020).
