In a society where cash is king and the ends justify the means, there are people ready to do anything for money. The picture becomes even murkier in a world where parents spend a king’s ransom to educate their sons and daughters so that they can secure well-paying jobs. While everyone has been taught and socialised about the importance of earning money, there are very few lessons and even fewer institutions that offer practical guidance on how to use money prudently and retain it.

I may not be very far from the truth when I say that both politics and love are games. While love may be considered a game of the heart, politics requires good brains and wit. In both cases, those involved aim to endear themselves to one another and losing is never easily accepted. Fortunately, for the African man there is always a leeway in both cases.

In a display of might, armored vehicles and military personnel from the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) patrolled Nairobi for the better part of Thursday. Dispatched from Nyayo Stadium Thursday morning, the soldiers entered the city through Tom Mboya Street where they were wildly cheered by protestors. The KDF's presence in the capital came a day after Members of Parliament approved their deployment within the city.
