    WorkWhile, a staffing platform providing event staff and warehouse workers, announced a $23 million Series B funding round on June 16. The firm also named Simon Khalaf as COO. Khalaf is a board member at WorkWhile and the former CEO of fintech and payments company Marqeta. He joined WorkWhile this month. The index fell to a level of 112.3 in May (July 2018=100), down from April’s upwardly revised reading of 112.9.The 0.6% decrease between May and April follows a 2.7% increase between April and March. Overall, the index is down in May by 7.0% from a year ago.

    Nearly two in five US hiring managers, 39%, expect turnover at their company to increase in 2025, up from 33% who said the same for 2024, according to a survey released June 11 by the Harris Poll on behalf of Express Employment Professionals. While 51% of hiring managers expect turnover to remain steady, the survey found that the growing concern has started to affect company budgets. The survey found that turnover costs businesses an average of $36,723 annually in rehiring and lost productivity.

    Overall job satisfaction in the US rose by 5.7 percentage points in the 2025 Conference Board Job Satisfaction survey released June 11. This is the largest single-year increase in the survey’s history and the highest level since the survey began in 1987. However, the research found a generational gap in job satisfaction is widening. According to the survey, only 57.4% of workers under age 25 are satisfied with their jobs, compared to 72.4% of those aged 55 and older.

    Generative AI is raising red flags among employers, with 65% of hiring managers “somewhat” or “very” concerned about candidates using it to cheat on recruitment assessments, according to survey results released June 5 by talent management solution provider Talogy. The survey also found that while 22% of job seekers reported using generative AI when completing assessments, 15% of early-career professionals said they would use it.
