The motorbike enthusiast, who hailed from Bawn, Shantonagh, just outside Castleblayney, has been remembered as a steadfast and dutiful family man whose passion for life knew no bounds .

The single-vehicle incident occurred on the R331 at Friarsquarter East, Ballinrobe, shortly after 7.40pm. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been conveyed to Mayo University Hospital. The Coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The road was preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and has since reopened. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

The serious assault occurred near Rosie Hackett Bridge on Eden Quay in Dublin 1 at around 4.30pm. Emergency services attended to the man, who was brought to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The scene is currently preserved for technical examination. Another man, aged in his 30s was subsequently arrested and is detained pursuant to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the Dublin City area.

Celebrity chef Donal Skehan had a smashing time during his cooking demonstration at the festival over the weekend, when the stage oven shattered during his segment, sending glass and pieces of the oven towards the chef while cooking Korean chicken.
