It is understood that the garda was on foot when he was knocked down by the VW Golf car which did not have insurance. “This was a terrifying incident – the garda ended up on the bonnet of the vehicle,” a source told the Sunday World“He suffered a number of injuries and was treated at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar,” the source added. The driver of the car involved in the incident has not yet been apprehended.
