Ecco i quattro attributi chiave: si verifica in un campo nuovo; il contesto presenta un’opportunità credibile di progredire verso un obiettivo desiderato (che si tratti di una scoperta scientifica o di una nuova amicizia); si basa sulle conoscenze disponibili (è «basato su ipotesi»); infine è il fallimento più piccolo possibile ma fornisce comunque spunti preziosi. Le dimensioni sono soggettive e il contesto è importante.
