I’ll be the first person to offer other people help or a listening ear, supporting them through situations or giving them a pep talk as required. It’s part and parcel of being a friend. Being a relative. Being a colleague. Really, being a good person. So, it’s funny then when you think about two things. Firstly – how often would you say all these encouraging words, uplifting statements and offer that same level of kindness to yourself?

Best places to go for food and drink in Inverclyde when the sun is out (Image: Newsquest) Dare we say it...it looks like the sunshine may be here to stay for a while. It’s self-explanatory isn’t it, but the people you work with can really make or break a job (Image: Newsquest / Pixabay) When I was in university, I applied for a part time job to work in the CalMac Ferries contact centre over the summer. When I went for the job, it was very much just a way to pay the bills whilst I studied.

Really chuffed that I've returned to my hometown paper as a columnist and features writer for the brand-new Weekend @greenocktele! Hearing I've not changed much since my column headshot 10-years-ago is a delight... Thanks to @_gillmurphy for the opportunity! Buy a paper! 🗞⭐️ https://t.co/sLNKUjaR7X
