Duke Student Government elected its senate judiciary committee, approved the board of electors and allocated $40,406.10 in Student Organization Finance Committee funding requests during its Wednesday meeting. Sophomore senator Edison Chen was elected chair of the senate judiciary committee with 52.8% of the vote. In this position, Chen will be responsible for enforcing the rules of the senate chamber. He currently serves as a member of the equity and outreach committee.

Professor of Physics Tom Mehen is remembered as a pioneer in the field of nuclear and theoretical physics and an inspiring mentor who formed lasting connections with his students. Mehen, 54, died Dec. 29 at his home in Chapel Hill. “Tom was a brilliant theoretical physicist with a genuine passion for physics,” Lecturer of Physics Arya Roy wrote in an email to The Chronicle.
