USC students turned up the heat at Coachella over the past two weekends as desert temperatures soared over 100 degrees with energy levels to match. Charli XCX and Lady Gaga were crowd favorites, and the audience buzzed under Keinemusik’s Peace Cloud display. Now that the festival is over, USC students have plenty of takeaways. Although the first weekend saw triple-digit temperatures, some students weren’t bothered by the extreme heat.

One small step for Katy Perry, one giant leap for private space flight? Monday morning, Katy Perry and five other celebrities boarded Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket and capsule. The short flight only lasted 10 minutes. Passengers flew just beyond the Karman line, the widely recognized boundary of space located 62 miles above Earth.

On Friday, Don Toliver lit up the Coliseum stage for USC’s annual Springfest concert. The rapper played his biggest hits like “No Pole.” The event was entirely student-run by the USC Concerts Committee. The show was the club’s biggest of the year, and some say maybe even of all time.

Last Monday, USC women’s basketball suffered a blow after star player Juju Watkins suffered a serious knee injury. The injury happened in the first quarter of the Trojans’ game against Mississippi State. Watkins tore her anterior cruciate ligament, at the center of the knee joint, and will be absent for the rest of the season. This means USC’s odds for taking home the title have dropped significantly, and fans are worried about the team’s chances overall. That’s not to say USC is tapped out.
