In honor of Hunger Action Month — observed in September — Stetson’s Hatter Food Pantry partnered with U.S. Hunger to put together 10,000 red lentil jambalaya meals Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Rinker Field House. “We witnessed a taste of the soul of Stetson in our community coming together with joy and enthusiasm committed to actively addressing food insecurity on our campus and in Volusia County,” said Rev. Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Egypt, Haiti, Pakistan, Serbia and Thailand were some of the 20 countries of origin of the 30 new American citizens who took the Oath of Allegiance at a Citizenship and Naturalization Ceremony inside of Lee Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 17. “I can see that the journey our students are taking and the journey you are taking are in some ways similar,” said President Christopher F. Saturday, September 21 marks the International Day of Peace or “Peace Day,” established in 1981 through a unanimous resolution by the United Nations. This day offers people around the globe a chance to embrace peace despite our differences and work towards fostering a culture of harmony. Our world longs for peace, and it is up to each of us to make that vision a reality.

For many years, a new Performing Arts Center has been a dream at Stetson University. The School of Music performs inside beautiful Lee Chapel on campus — a 127-year-old historic setting located in Elizabeth Hall. But with the passing of the years, the ever-growing stream of incoming students has outgrown Lee Chapel as a main venue.

Every night, Allie, one of Law Professor Kristen Adams, JD, and her husband Jeff’s beloved Vizslas, jumps on the sofa for a belly rub. One night, when she wasn’t quite seven years old, Adams noticed a spot on the dog’s leg that hadn’t been there before. “It didn’t look like anything, but it was covered in fur,” Adams said. “We took her to the vet right away.”The vet said it was serious – and sent her to have the growth removed right away.

I cannot believe that it has been a little over a year since I began my journey as the Catholic Campus Minister at Stetson, which I consider a great blessing to me. I want to take advantage of this platform to talk a little about myself. I graduated from the Interamerican University, located in San German, Puerto Rico, with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1987.
