The Nov.12 meeting of the Delta Board of Trustees involved one employee dismissal and a performance evaluation of the Superintendent/President of Delta College during a two hour closed session. The board chose to unanimously take action and terminated a payroll analyst. The board recognized two members retiring at the meeting. Jennet Stebbins was appointed to serve on the San Joaquin Delta Community College District Board of Trustees as of December 2008.

On October 30, the Delta College women’s water polo team won their final conference game against Fresno City College Rams 14-4 Delta and 20-9 overall in wins this season. “This was a good win. It’s our last conference game, so we already knew where we stand coming into this game. So it was a good opportunity to try some new stuff and get another game in before the tournament,” said Head Coach Nathan Varosh. The final conference game started off with a hit.

On Oct. 24, Jazmine Floris died after two vehicles were seen racing down Pacific and Yokuts avenues. One of the vehicles lost control, hitting Floris and crashing into the new Delta College marquee. Floris was rushed to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. A vigil was held on Oct. 25 in front of the marquee, and Floris’s family has set up a GoFundMe account for donations toward her cremation.
