7 SAEGERTOWN, Pa. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District will begin accepting live evergreen Christmas trees at Woodcock Creek Lake, which will be used for aquatic habitat improvement projects, beginning Dec. 27. Visitors may drop off live Christmas trees until Feb. 17, 2025, to the Woodcock Creek Lake Overlook Recreation Area, located directly across from Siverling Road. Signs will be in place to help guide tree drop-offs.

7 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District has awarded a nearly $770 million contract to construct a new 110-foot by 600-foot lock chamber at Montgomery Locks and Dam in Monaca, Pennsylvania. The district awarded the construction contract to the Trumbull-Brayman Construction Corporation, Joint Venture of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The contract serves as the base contract to begin constructing the new lock chamber.

High Court ReportersThe Commercial Court has dismissed a challenge by a company to moves by receivers to sell off a repossessed former nursing home. Last month, proceedings by Aperee Living Ballygunner Ltd, which ran a now vacant nursing home in Ballygunner, Co Wexford, against insolvency practitioners Andrew Byrne and James Anderson, were entered into the commercial list. Mr Byrne and Mr Anderson were appointed receivers over the nursing home in 2017 by AIB due to Aperee's default on borrowings.

Hairspray's original Broadway leading ladies—Laura Bell Bundy, Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Kerry Butler—have reunited for an Off-Broadway concert with Mama, I'm a Big Girl Now!, officially opening its limited engagement at New World Stages November 13 after beginning previews November 2. The run continues through December 8.
Bundy, Winokur, and Butler created the roles of Amber Von Tussle, Tracy Turnblad, and Penny Pingleton (respectively) in Best Musical winner Hairspray.

7 CONFLUENCE, Pa. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District is announcing that due unknown bridge stability and public safety concerns, public access to the Great Crossings Bridge at Youghiogheny River Lake is being restricted. The district does not maintain the bridge and cannot guarantee its structural integrity. District staff posted signs and a barrier to identify the area closed to the public.
