And Tuesday, it all came to fruition as Greenwood's Cameron Addis signed to continue his golf career at Chowan. "I've been waiting a long time for this," Addis said. Addis has played on Greenwood's varsity golf team since seventh grade, but his golfing journey started way before that.

In the pouring rain, it didn’t matter. Lander’s Luke Johnson made it a priority to walk outside and shake every single first responder’s hand. A culmination of five months of relentless work, Johnson was not going to let anything stop him from seeing out the festivities of the Red, White and Code Blue Game. “I love my country, appreciate all our first responders, and love to get these people in the stands and bring the community together,” Johnson said.

It’s just a matter of time before brighter days come for the Greenwood tennis team. That’s really the story of the Eagles’ season. A dark and gloomy start — unexpected after last year’s strong season — is just waiting to open up and burst. Thursday, that metaphor became real life. After a weather delay of almost two hours Thursday, the gloomy sky cleared and the Eagles shined right with the open skies, expectantly dominating a shorthanded Hillcrest team, who forfeited seven of-11 matches.
