The sound of her children’s screams after the horses they were on were spooked by a low-flying motor-glider during a ride near Fisher Towers on Nov. 30 is something Shirin Bakhshay will never forget. She was the only rider of eight who wasn’t immediately thrown after the horses bolted and she nearly made it back to Hauer Ranch, home of Moab Horses, atop her mount before she fell from the saddle, injuring herself.

Canyonlands Regional Airport will resume daily non-stop flights between Moab and Denver International Airport starting April 1, according to a press release issued by the airport. The service, operated by Contour Airlines in partnership with United Airlines, restores an important connection that was lost when Contour replaced SkyWest Airlines as the airport's air service provider last February.

The BEACON Afterschool Program, which aims to provide vital resources for Moab’s families and students, is marking the start of its 20th year. Founded in September 2005 as part of a community effort to support youth, BEACON has grown into a program serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Each year, the program runs more than 160 enrichment clubs, ranging from climbing and outdoor education to cultural dance and newspaper writing.
