SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Two Savannah Police officers could soon be off the job after being accused of violating policy during an arrest and a “use of force” offense. Three officers, all connected to a use of force allegation WSAV told you about two weeks ago, have been “out of policy.”WSAV has learned that a Savannah Police Use of Force Board recommended that two of the officers be fired, and one suspended. Sergeant Samuel Hunt and Corporal Alan Contreras were recommended to be fired.

That’s why Volunteers in Medicine on Hilton Head Island is helping stem the tide of the condition, and what they are doing is working. “In America in general, we are struggling with diabetes hypertension and our weight,” said Dr. John Newman, M.D., Executive Director of Volunteers in Medicine.

BLUFFTON, SC (WSAV) – A change at the top of one local police department. The Town of Bluffton going a little younger, at least for one day. Emily and Auria McKinley were officially sworn by Bluffton Mayor Larry Toomer in as “police chiefs for a day” on Wednesday. The sisters received this honor after their family won an auction at St Gregory the Great School. The “former” Chief Joe Babkiewicz was on hand for the big ceremony to hand over the reins to the Department.

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) – A ceremony more than 150 years in the making is happening this weekend in Bluffton. A church that has stood since 1862 is finally getting recognized for its longevity and impact on the community. First Zion Missionary Baptist Church will officially get a historic designation on Saturday. The marker will honor the church, which has been serving the people since 1862.
