Hello and welcome to the weekend edition of The Calderdale Lead. With all the wet weather about, I thought I’d bring a little sunshine on this Sunday morning, in the form of yet another cash boost for the borough. Ahead of the spending review this week, it’s been announced that the Calderdale Royal Hospital is to receive a slice of the Government’s £750m pie that is being used to fund vital repairs.

Hello and welcome to The Calderdale Lead. If, like me, you’re a bit of a political geek, you’ll probably be awaiting next week’s Spending Review with bated breath. Chancellor Rachel Reeves is starting to announce some of her plans and today she’s due in our region to unveil a huge funding package for transport improvements. We’ve got a report on what we know so far below. The Calderdale Lead is reader-supported. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Hello and welcome to The Calderdale Lead. I hope you were able to enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend despite the changeable weather! I had a love trip around different towns in borough, ending with a trip to one of my favourite gig venues - The Trades Club at Hebden Bridge - to watch Milltown Brothers (early 1990s indie heroes!).

Hello and welcome to the Sunday edition of The Calderdale Lead! It’s ANOTHER Bank Holiday so I hope you’re all enjoying some down time despite the sunshine not playing ball… yet! In today’s edition we’ve got details of £2m worth of flood defence work that the council is set to approve across the borough plus concerns from a pressure group that teacher’s pay rises might actually mean a cut in the number of staff due to squeezed budgets.

Hello and welcome to The Calderdale Lead! I don’t know about everyone else but I had a shock yesterday when water started dropping from the skies as I was driving over towards Todmorden. It feels like it’s been ages since we’ve seen any rain although I’m hoping that that’s it for the next few days and the Bank Holiday weekend is a sunny affair! Anyway, in this edition we’ve got details of two controversial planning applications up for a decision next week. Plus, a guide to what’s hot this weekend.

This is bonkers. If I was NES I’d be telling Marinakis to stick his job where the sun doesn’t shine. Won’t be short of suitors across Europe after the season Forest have had!

That’s absolutely bonkers, no? On the pitch and all sorts. They’re 7th FFS. https://t.co/bNIB0Z12er

Liverpool fans booing TAA? Don’t get that.

RT @claretcrumpet: @beeholepodcast @AndrewGreaves84 @Brownhill10 An excellent listen. Great work all season One shout that I feel was miss…
