In management theory, there is an idea that there are two management styles: Theory X and Theory Y. Theory X Managers view employees as lazy, incompetent, and selfish, and Theory Y Managers view employees as self-motivated, capable, and eager to help others. So, which theory is correct? Well, perhaps this is the wrong question to ask. The point is this: the theory you believe impacts the people you lead. If you view your employees as incompetent slackers, you’ll probably get those types of people.
