A Fair StartWe did well selling plants on our charity stall this year: £70 was taken in the first hour. The plants were priced at £1, £2, £3, £4 and £5 but all purchases were made from just three of those categories. All the customers spent different amounts and all bought three items, but no-one bought three items at the same price. Last year the Vicar spent £14 but so far this year no-one has exceeded or even matched that amount.

Prime ChoiceI have written down three numbers, which together use each of the digits from 0 to 9 once. All the numbers are greater than one hundred and the two smaller numbers are prime. I have also written down the product of the three numbers. If I told you how many digits the product contains you wouldn’t be able to tell me the value of the product. However, if I also told you whether the product is odd or even then you would be able to work out all the three numbers.

Darts League In our darts league, each team plays each other once. The result of each match is decided by the number of legs won, and each match involves the same number of legs. If both teams win the same number of legs, the match is drawn. The final league table shows the games won, drawn or lost, and the number of legs won for and against the team. The Dog suffered the most humiliating defeat, winning only one leg of that match. Curiously, no two matches had the same score.

Fabulé’s next creation will be a set of equal-sized silver regular dodecahedra, but some of the faces will be gold-plated. He is undecided whether to go ahead with either a “Charm” set or a “Partial” set. “Charm” is composed of dodecahedra with at least one gold-plated face but with no gold-plated face having a common side with more than one other gold-plated face. “Partial” is composed of dodecahedra with exactly six gold-plated faces. All the items in each set are distinguishable.

Liam was given a set of addition sums as part of his homework. The teacher had cleverly chosen sums where the answer, together with the two numbers to be added, used all the digits from 1 to 9 just once (and there were no zeros). For instance, one of the sums was 193 + 275 = 468. I noticed that one of them was particularly interesting in that the two numbers to be added were perfect powers (squares, cubes etc.). In the interesting sum, what are the two numbers that were to be added?

4. DiscussionOur results demonstrated that the IntegratedCNNs outperformed the other comparative methods, including 1D CNN, 2D CNN, 3D CNN, and HybridSN when considering both classification accuracy and efficiency. Our approach integrated all three CNN models, resulting in robust representations in terms of accuracy and efficiency by combining 1D, 2D, and 3D CNNs into a novel method for integrating the concept of these three classifiers into a single processing chain.

Sums and ProductsMrs Green uses a dice game to improve the maths skills of her pupils. The children sit four to a table and each child throws five dice. Points are awarded according to the sum and product for each child; bonus points are awarded if the five scores contain three or more of the same number. At Liam’s table all four children had the same sum but all achieved that sum in different ways. Surprisingly, all of the twenty dice scored more than one and no bonus points were awarded.

The rate and extent of global biodiversity change is surpassing our ability to measure, monitor and forecast trends. We propose an interconnected worldwide system of observation networks — a global biodiversity observing system (GBiOS) — to coordinate monitoring worldwide and inform action to reach international biodiversity targets. The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF) provides a vision for living in harmony with nature that will have lasting benefits for humanity1.
