As reported previously, a small section of the wall that surrounds the lake at Taylor Park crumbled and fell into the water. A pathway next to the wall had already been cordoned off for safety reasons as St Helens Council anticipated it was close to collapsing. St Helens Council swiftly appointed a contractor to begin the works of repairing the wall. Workers have been seen at the site carrying out repairs, with sand bags placed around the wall and water to help them access the area.

Three age groups from Pilkington Recs - the under 8s, under 9s and under 12s - travelled to the Lincolnshire coastline for the two day festival of rugby league, hosted at Butlin’s by the Leeds Rhino’s Community Foundation. The event gives players the chance to test themselves against opponents from leagues in Yorkshire, Humberside and Cumbria - as well as the North West Counties. A number of teams from St Helens took part in the event, which was held on consecutive weekends in May.
