Byline: CONAILL CORNER & EMILY CARUBIANEIGHBOURS have described their shock after a woman was fatally stabbed inside a shop in Bootle. Merseyside Police were called to Stanley Road, near the junction with Wadham Road, shortly after 5.05pm on Friday, to reports of a domestic incident. It had been reported a 44-year-old woman had sustained a stab wound to her torso after an assault inside Low Cost Food and Wine. Police attended the scene where they detained a man and seized a knife.

Ten yachts set sail from Brunswick Dock on the River Mersey this evening as part of Liverpool Yacht Club's annual Midnight Race. The race has been an annual event since the early 1900s, when sailors raced across the Irish Sea with canvas sails, and only a compass and the stars showing them the way. Tonight, ten yachts, eight from Liverpool, one from Wales and another from the Atlantic, will race through the night until they reach Douglas, Isle of Man.

A woman is fighting for her life after being stabbed in Bootle. Police have cordoned off a large part of Stanley Road following the incident this evening. Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called to a business premises on Stanley Road, near its junction with Wadham Road, at 5.05pm this evening (Friday) to reports of a domestic stabbing. It had been reported a woman in her 40s had sustained a stab wound to her torso after an assault inside the premises.
