LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - KU baseball tied the program record for most wins in a season at 38 Friday night as the Jayhawks took down BYU on senior night 10-1. KU improved to 38-14 (16-10 in Big 12 play) behind a career-high 10 strikeouts from Cooper Moore. He pitched eight innings, only allowing one earned run. The Jayhawks offense came from a number of batters. Infielder Chase Diggins led the way with a trio of RBIs.“We went back to playing team baseball,” Diggins told KU Athletics postgame.

The Houston Cougars baseball program recently joined the football, basketball, softball, golf and volleyball teams in unveiling new “Houston Blue” alternate uniforms, which will debut on May 15 against Arizona after their May 6 game against Texas A&M was cancelled due to inclement weather. Due to inclement weather and thunder, Houston vs. Texas A&M has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. The Cougars will wear their Houston Blue uniforms May 15 against Arizona.

JOPLIN, Mo. (WIBW) - Washburn baseball upset No. 15 Pittsburg State 2-1 on Thursday to advance to the semifinal round of the MIAA Tournament. The Ichabods success came thanks in part to a complete game performance from Washburn Rural alum Cooper Carlgren. The senior gave up just four hits while recording seven strikeouts. He improves to 3-4 on the season. Jett Buck and Cash Jay were the offensive heroes for the Ichabods, tallying a RBI each.

(WIBW) - Manhattan High’s Trey Hoover and Hayden High’s Jensen Schrickel were two of just 12 Kansas high school football players recognized Wednesday night at the Bill Snyder Family/Sunflower Chapter National Football Foundation Dinner. The annual event, held at Kansas State’s Shamrock Zone, honors senior scholar-athletes for excellence in football, academics and community leadership. ”It was actually really good to do it,” Hoover said.
