Four to five hours of sleep a night is said to be the norm for the 78-year-old Trump.

According to the media, this is a colossal disaster, bringing terrible consequences down on fragile elderly people across the land. Also on everybody else who buys goods from abroad. But writing about old people's alleged suffering brings out a louder crescendo of sad violin music. Also, single mothers. What is it now, a few weeks short of 10 years since Trump first announced his presidential candidacy? Nada. Zero. Zip.

When I was growing up shortly after dinosaurs disappeared, there were consequences for misbehavior, especially lying – small consequences for little wrongs, big consequences for big ones. Punishment was not pleasant. But it made sense. Parents and school principals enforced the rules. And then coaches took over. It was all designed to instill an acceptable standard of behavior for that day and later in life.
