    A new round of DNA testing exonerates a homeless man who has spent nearly four decades in prison for the killing of a Santa Ana nanny, according to defense attorneys who are asking Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer to declare Kenneth Clair innocent of the 1984 slaying. Clair, who spent years on death row before an appellate court overturned his death sentence and he was re-sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, has always denied killing 25-year-old Linda Faye Rodgers.

Ever since the end of the Cold War, the United States has tolerated the systematic demilitarization of NATO countries. When Russian tanks were trained on Germany, that country and its neighbors stood ready to fight alongside the United States to repel Soviet aggression.

    I was a massive fan of the West's initial support for Ukraine's war effort. Putin expected an immediate capitulation, and when that failed to happen--a pleasant surprise--it made strategic sense to help Ukraine push Russia back to the lines it occupied before its 2020 offensive. It sent a good message to Russia, and to a lesser extent, other potential aggressors, and despite the deficiencies of Ukraine's government, it was clearly the victim in this case.
