The Durham Region Police Service’s homicide unit is investigating the death of a 47-year-old man in Pickering, Ont., saying it’s the region’s first homicide of 2025. Durham Region officers said that on April 30, officers from its west division responded to a call for a well-being check in the area of Fairport Road and Third Concession Road. Upon arrival, officers found a man dead inside a vehicle, Durham police said in a brief statement.

A 17-year-old youth has been arrested by Toronto police and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with a deadly double shooting in the Riverdale neighbourhood in mid-April. Police announced the suspect’s arrest Sunday, after they picked up the youth on Saturday. Neither the youth’s name nor any identifying details can be published under Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A union representing close to 400 workers at Ikea’s Montreal store walked off the job early Saturday, saying the Swedish company’s proposed wage deal offered no protection from inflation. Delta Air Lines has suffered “a significant drop” in travel bookings from Canada during its first quarter and is considering flight capacity cuts to this country, a top company executive said Wednesday. “In Canada, we have seen a significant drop off in bookings.
