    Artists in Charlotte are calling foul after a design chosen by the Charlotte Area Transit System for next year’s monthly passes turned out to be created by artificial intelligence. CATS has been using local art on its passes for several years now, and they put out a call to artists in North Carolina and South Carolina to submit their designs for next year’s monthly, weekly, and daily passes back in April. The winners were just announced last week.

    An American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Charlotte had to abort landing because a small plane was still on their runway Friday afternoon. The flight landed safely about 20 minutes later, but passengers on board told Channel 9′s Joe Bruno it was “weird” and “freaky.”American Airlines Flight 938 ended up circling in the air after a go-around at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. These incidents are rare, but not abnormal.

    Susan Smith, the mother convicted of killing her children 30 years ago in South Carolina, appeared before a parole board for the first time on Wednesday. It was Smith’s first hearing after becoming eligible for parole this year. She was convicted of two counts of murder and sentenced to life in prison after killing her children in 1994. READ MORE:The parole board called Smith up at about 11:45 a.m., and she appeared remotely from the Leath Correctional Institution in Greenwood.
