    JOANN Inc., the Hudson-based crafting chain founded in 1949 with locations across the country, announced Monday that it will be closing all of its stores and holding going out-of-business sales. The company, which was in bankruptcy protection for the second time in a year, was bought at auction on Saturday. GA Group along with the Prepetition Loan Agent had the winning bid for substantially all of JOANN's assets, according to a press release at joannrestructuring.com.

    The Akron Police Department has released body camera video from officers involved in the Feb. 17 shooting of 39-year-old Marcus Smith of Cincinnati. Audio from a 911 call shows that the fatal shooting occurred after a man who identified himself as Smith's father called to report Smith had stolen his car. Twenty-eight minutes later, Smith lay bleeding in the snow in the 200 block of Ira Avenue, video released by Akron police shows.

    Cleveland officials announced Friday the city has been awarded $70 million from the federal Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program from the U.S. Department of Transportation to help fund the North Coast Connector. The Connector will bridge the train tracks and the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, state Route 2, behind city hall, providing better pedestrian access between downtown and the lakefront.

    The Akron Police Department says a 15-year-old is dead after being shot by an officer on Thanksgiving night. According to a press release from the department, two officers were parked in their police cruiser at East Avenue and Vernon Odom Blvd around 11 p.m. Thursday, working on a report from a previous call when they heard gunshots. When they got out of their car to investigate, they encountered a man with a loaded firearm.
