DiscussionThis study is the first to prospectively analyse health complaints during the season using the IGF guidelines for reporting of injuries and illnesses in the amateur golfing population. We found injury and illness rates to be similar or lower compared with those reported in many other sports. Injuries located at the lumbosacral spine, knee and shoulder had both the highest incidence and burden. Injuries were associated with increasing age, previous injury and osteoarthritis.
